Show 214 - Chris Palmer - Lessons Learned as a Full-Time SWAT Officer - This week Mike interviews Chris Palmer, a veteran police officer with thirteen years of his career assigned as a full-time SWAT officer.  Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and hard-won lessons learned from a full-time SWAT operator in this show.
A snapshot of Chris's bio:
  • 1999 to 2001 Patrol officer.
  • 2001 to 2006 N.E.T. Neighborhood Enforcement Team. We were a directed enforcement position within the precincts. Basically we would be tasked by the commander to solve problems brought to them by the community. This is where I got plain clothes and U/C experience. We would work informants, buy dope, write warrants, surveillance and locating subjects with felony warrants, a bit of everything without responsibility for the radio.
  • 2006 to 2019 (SWAT) Full time unit with 5 ten man squads now 4 ten man squads. Barricades, Violent subjects arrested, Present for several (20?) OIS and fired my weapons in 4 of them. At last count I've had 56 rounds fired at me and been hit once. Most of those have been through the walls on HRT entries. I've never shot anyone during an HR. Mine were all arrests/ barricades
  • 2017- present   Contract breaching instructor for Forced Entry Tactical Training.
  • 2019 - present Full time firearms training detail.

One of the men who took one of the largest SWAT teams in America to the next level. Great teammate!

This guy is the real deal. I once saw him nunchuck a dude then did a roundhouse finishing move during a one on one fight. Last I heard he was in Hong Kong fighting in the Kumite.

Questionable ethics. Such as someone on a discord chat mentioning an opinion about classification differing with Chris's opinion, he'll rats him out to his buddy in Dept of Homeland Security.

Just make sure you don't violate his opinion of what OPSEC means, and he probably won't rat you out. Well, maybe.

I debated the need to reply here but questioning my ethics is out of bounds.
My email is posted for those wishing to discuss or debate anything that comes to mind. Using the comment section of a podcast to attack someone is cowardly and childish.

If someone in a position of trust makes statements supporting anarchism and open source materials that put people in danger, make certain I will notify the people who need to know. I guess my ethics are a bit out of wack if you support that.

Be well.
