​On today's Coffee with Rich, we will be joined by William Fraass.
William Fraass started his career as 19-year-old Reserve Officer. He rose through the ranks to Captain, with his last assignment being Acting Chief of Police before suffering an injury that led to his medical retirement in 2023.
William is the recipient of the United States Coast Guard's Meritorious Public Safety Award, the Sausalito Police Department’s Blue Star and Life Saving Medals, the Marin County Police Officer’s Award for Heroic Action, and several other awards/commendations. He is a graduate of the FBI's National Academy and holds an Associates of Science Degree in Administration of Justice, a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education, and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice specializing in Law Enforcement Management and Terrorism/Homeland Security.
In addition to this work on leadership, William authored an article on leadership for the Police Executive Research Forum’s January/February 2012 newsletter and instructed at the FBI’s Rocky Mountain Command College and the 2023 International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference. William is now the Managing Consultant/Owner of Code 33 Consulting LLC, a law enforcement/public safety consulting company.

He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from Texas State University and a PhD in public policy and administration from Walden University. He is a native of Uvalde, Texas.

Aqil is the founder and lead instructor of Citizens Safety Academy, a firearms training company in Middle Tennessee. His background as a firearms instructor started at age 12, teaching youth in his father’s gun club. He followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming both a police officer and a firearms instructor at the age of 22. He has been training civilians for over 30 years and training law enforcement for over 25. Aqil considers himself a "senior student" and has many hours of training with some of the best in the civilian firearms training industry. He is currently a staff instructor at Rangemaster Firearms Training Services under his mentor Tom Givens.

MR. Deal operates full time as the founder and lead instructor of Zero Points Down Academy (ZPD) in South Africa. ZPD is a bespoke training operation catering for Police mandated training of citizens on all small arms as well as advanced levels of sport shooting, including precision long-range shooting.
 
He is the IDPA State Coordinator for the Cape Province in South Africa and a keen Sport Shooter. In 2020 he founded the SAFE CITIZEN Campaign www.safecitizen.co.za – a civil rights group concerned with the safety of South Africans who daily face escalating and brutal crime.
Writing on Travel and Tourism, his book, Timeless Karoo was published in 2007, and as a freelance journalist and photographer, he also writes for various publications, including the Rhodes Business School website and the Daily Maverick. He is a past chairman of the Southern African Freelancers Association and is sought after as a speaker and debater on environmental issues at international conferences. Deal presented at Al Gore’s International Climate Leadership School in Johannesburg in March 2014 and was honored in the same year to be listed by City Press as 1 of 100 World Class South Africans, sharing the accolade with fellow citizens such as Nelson Mandela, Mark Shuttleworth and Charlize Theron.
 
His background in journalism and public speaking has proved invaluable in moving Safe Citizen forward.
 
As a committed trainer, he holds a fierce passion for lawful and competent private gun ownership and regards himself as an influencer in this realm in South Africa. Reading widely on training and civil rights issues, Deal views SafeCitizenas a necessary vehicle to move lawful gun owners close to the police as trusted allies – proving that citizens who can defend themselves will be a powerful and positive influence on the communities in which they live.
Deal intends to use every resource available to unite lawful South Africans who support private firearm ownership, to overturn the untrue perception that firearms are bad and that private firearm owners are to blame for the flood of illegal firearms in the country.
He is determined that his fellow citizens should be able, via the lawful possession of a firearm to enjoy the Constitutional guarantee of freedom from public or private violence.

Ken "Shadow" Goodman, the founder and Chief Combatives Coach of 52 VtK, is a testament to the power of resilience and constant self-improvement. His journey began within the challenging confines of the New York State prison system, where he was a resident for a quarter-century.
In this violent subculture, Ken honed his combat skills, intensively refining them for survival. His self-protection system, a product of years of meticulous development, was born and tested within these walls, proving its effectiveness time and again.
Ken's introduction to the martial arts world occurred at age five and set the groundwork for his profound journey. He kick-started his training with fencing and the prison dirty-boxing style known as '52 Blocks' or 'Jailhouse Rock.' This foundation allowed Ken to complement his fighting style with conventional boxing, Ving Tsun, Kali, and Krav Maga in the later years.
