John recently retired after 25 years of service in the Marines and the intelligence community, but he makes no claim to being a combat veteran. He considers himself very fortunate to have trained under some of the most respected firearms instructors in the country, and he’s learned much more about shooting and self-defense outside the military than he ever did during his service. As an instructor, John has incorporated the best and most practical methods and techniques into his courses, and he continues to train and refine his skills every year, both as a defensive shooter and as a trainer. John has presented classroom and range instruction at the multiple Rangemaster Conferences, and currently holds a “Master Instructor” rating from Rangemaster, and is a graduate of Massad Ayoob’s “Lethal Force Instructor” program. Glenn Norling is a retired FBI Special Agent, and the Principal at TBR Consulting LLC, providing world-class emergency planning, crisis management, investigation, and active shooter preparation consultation and training.
Glenn is a certified FBI crisis manager, an FBI instructor, and FBI adjunct faculty. Throughout his 20-year career, he worked as a field investigator, a field supervisory special agent, as well as a supervisory special agent at the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group in Quantico, Virginia. Prior to the FBI, Glenn served for ten years in the United States Air Force as an acquisition program manager, separating at the rank of Captain. Glenn holds a BA in physics from Ohio University, and a MA in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. He is a proud Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He is a member of the National Tactical Officers Association, the National Rifle Association, and is a lifetime member of the FBI Agents Association. Glenn is an avid outdoorsman and shooter, and also serves as a Search and Rescue volunteer. He and his family live in beautiful Lake Tahoe, California. Mike and I are both Marines, we’ve been in combat and spent years working bars, nightclubs, and topless bars. When we left the Marines, we were correctional officers in a large facility, as well as special operations officers in a correctional setting. Meaning we’ve had to fight a lot in quite a few cells, pods, and tanks. We’ve also been police officers out on the road, fighting people into handcuffs. Also, I’ve been an investigator in the Marine Corps, and Mike has been a Fed. We’ve both been defensive tactics instructors in the military, LEO and corrections, and have decades in martial arts.
