On today's Coffee with Rich, we will be joined by Kerry “Kato” Murakami.
Kerry “Kato” Murakami, the founder of Rectitude Training, LLC, is devoted to training law enforcement and the civilian defender. Kerry is a retired law enforcement officer from the State of Illinois and has spent all twenty-eight years in the patrol division. He initially became a defensive tactics instructor and field training officer in 1995, a firearms instructor in 2003 and finally a scenario based instructor in 2014. As a martial artist, Kerry received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Professor Mark Vives of New Breed Training Center in 2019. As co-lead of his department’s scenario-based training program and lead instructor of his department’s combatives club Kerry is able to use his skills to create, update, and implement training programs on the range and in the mat room. He has also consulted with outside law enforcement agencies on creating and updating training programs, including their agency's combatives/jiu-jitsu clubs. In early 2021 Rectitude Training, LLC became a preferred provider to the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA), one of the largest risk pools in the Chicagoland area. The goal is to increase the frequency and consistency of Defensive Tactics/Combatives training while reducing Officer’s and suspect's injuries.

On today's Coffee with Rich, we will be joined by Glen Tate. Glen Tate is the co-host of the podcast Prepping 2.0, which he co-hosts with his wife, Shelby Gallagher.
Glen wrote the best-selling 10-book prepper novel series 299 Days. His wife Shelby wrote the three-book prepper novel series A Great State. Glen is a lawyer (don't hate him) who sues the government for a living. Glen and Shelby are relocating to Montana in the summer of 2021.

​On today's Coffee with Rich, we will be joined by Manhar Parshotam.  Manhar Parshotam is the founder, a shareholder and director of Dragon Protection Services, which was established in 1996.
Manhar grew up in Durban and attended Burnwood Secondary School in Sydenham. After he completed his schooling, he spent two years studying for a degree in engineering until he switched to a BCom degree.
During his university years, he was a voluntary policeman and subsequently served as a police reservist for 15 years. Manhar’s explains that his career in the security field ‘happened by accident’.
In the 1990s he worked parttime in security during the South African Amnesty process, which boosted his interest in the field. Whilst working in security during a huge petrol strike, a chance encounter changed his life’s direction. A medical doctor approached and requested him to perform a security assessment of one of the doctor’s buildings. Following this assessment, he was offered the security contract for the building.
This was a huge learning curve,” explains Manhar. In his final year of BCom, Manhar had to make a choice to either complete his studies or go full time into the security business. “This decision was hard as there were more cons than pros and was based on the opportunity to train ex-soldiers in security so that they could be reintegrated back into society and obtain jobs.” After much deliberation Manhar left the university and the business grew from there.
Some of the highlights of his career included seeing Fidel Castro and Muammar Gaddafi in person. A standout moment was watching Nelson Mandela arrive at the Durban ICC. “I got to see an icon – there was an aura about him which gave me goosebumps,” said Manhar. During 2001 Manhar was provided the opportunity by the South African Government to attend internationally recognized protection training courses in the United Kingdom and the United States.
In his down time, Manhar enjoys competitive shooting as well as spending time with his family. “They help you relax, keep you calm and put a smile on my face.”
He concluded, “Be happy, do what you love. If you love what you are doing, then every day is a holiday.”

Show # 256 - Coffee with Rich | Chris Palmer Former Marine and a Veteran Police S.W.A.T. Officer and Firearms Instructor
Chris Palmer is a former Marine and a veteran police officer with thirteen years of his career assigned as a full-time SWAT officer. Chris served as a Patrol Officer from 1999-2001. From 2001-2006 Chris was assigned to N.E.T. (Neighborhood Enforcement Team), this is where he operated in plain clothes and gained U/C experience. From 2006-2019 Chris was a full-time SWAT Operator. In this capacity, he has been involved in roughly 20 OIS and fired his weapon in 4 of them. At last count, Chris has had 56 rounds fired at him and has been hit once. Chris is currently a full-time firearms instructor for his department, breaching instructor for Forced Entry Tactical Training, and the owner of 532 Insight LLC.
